Type 1 and type 2 diabetes present with similar symptoms, but those symptoms are often less severe and more gradual in type 2 diabetes. In fact, some symptoms may go unnoticed because they develop so slowly or are attributed to age. In general, the higher a person’s blood glucose level is, the more pronounced their symptoms will be.

Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands or feet can also be a symptom of either type 1 or type 2 diabetes, but it’s more common in type 2. Cuts or bruises that are slow to heal and frequent infections can also be symptoms of type 2 diabetes.
